PARISH MEETINGS.

I.«— ST. MARY'S, MERIVALE. • The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Mary's, Merivale, was held last evening, the Rev. C. H. Gossett, Vicar, presiding. The report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted, allowing' that the total receipts for the year amounted to £649 4s sd. and the expenditure to 41574 19s Id, leaving a credit balance of £74 5s 4d. Almost all the seats in the Church available for letting had been allotted. It had been decided by tlie vestry to temporarily repair the roof of the present school building, and to continue the use of the building for school purposes until a new budding is erected. Subject to the approval of the parishioner!?, it was proposed to pay off the balance due on the land acquired by the parish last year by obtaining a loan from the Church Property Trustees, repayable, with interest, over a period of five years. 'Tlie election of officers resulted: —Clergyman's churchwarden, Mr I. Gibbs; people's churchwarden, Mr H. B. Hill: vestry, Messro Edward Webb, H. G. Deal. Satchell, T. C. Field, A. H. Al.an, P. P. Warden, G. A. U. Tapper, Davie. M-.vindonald, and Walter Wood. The Rev. Mr Gos*>ett addressed the meeting, emphasising the need of new cassocks for the choir, incandescent burners in the Church, and the great want of a new schoolroom. He also stated that he desired to form a Communicants' Guild, similar to that in connection with St. Michael's. A motion proposed by Mr E. Y. Cox, to the effect that it be a suggestion to the incoming vestry that before proceeding with the repairs to the old schoolroom, the vestry ascertain how much could be raised towards the new building. was negp-tired. Mr Orbbs pointed out that this would tie the incoming vestry'.s kinds, and that it was proposed to reroof the old building with iron as soon as possible, in such a manner that the iron could be used on the new structure when funds are available. Votes of thanks to the Church workers and retiring officebearers concluded proceedings.
