JUBILEE MEMORIAL.
A meeting of the Canterbury Jubilee Memorial Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs Henry F. Wigram (in the chair), W. Recce, and F. J. BoaTd. The Cliairman read a cable message from London, advising that the panels for the memorial would be shipped by tho Ruapehu on the 23rd inst. As the Ruapehu is due in Wellington on June 10th, the chairman thought that they should not delay the unveiling ceremony till the arrival ot the panels. This was agreed to, and it was decided to communicate with the Governor, asking if he could perform the unveiling ceremony on some date previous to May 24th, the committee having noted that his Excellency had undertaken to lay the foundation stone of the Veterans' Home on May 24th. It was decided to call another meeting of the committee on the receipt of the reply from his Excellency. Mr S. Huret Seager, architect superintending the erection of the memorial, submitted a report on the completion of the work, and made a subscription of ten guineas to the fund. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Seager.
