POLICE COURT.
For riding a bicycle on the footpath James Robinson wan fined 10s and cbsta at the Police Court' yc*teidaj\ . Two filet offenders were dealt with for inebriety, Willinm Hodgson was fined 10s and costs, apd Elizabeth Sheehan, alias Evans, was sent to prison for fourteen clays. M«*rs T. York and A. Tood were the presiding Justices. At the Lyttelton Court yesterday,-before Messrs W.. Radcliffc and J. T. Brice, J.P.s, a first offender was lined 5s and costs for drunkenness. Henry ' O'Grady wan fined 10s for assaulting a seaman on the Buteshire. At the Police Court, Rakaia, on Wednesday, William Duncan Mcintosh was charged with stealing 20a, which had been given him to procure goods for Joseph McMullen in February last. Accused pleaded "Not guilty," and stated that he was much surprised when arrested, as ho intended coming back ar.d returning the money. The Bench regretted seeing a fine- young man placed in the position he was, and advised him to be more careful. He was ordered to return the money at once, and fined 20s and costs.
