TO TOT EDITOB 0» TOT PKE9S. Sir,—-We are .frequently told in your columns that the prosperity of this colony is i_di__>luiMy bound up in th© success of this industry. All well-wishers of the oolony must, therefore, be gratified to see tliat Mr A. W. Rutherford opened a new butter factory _b_s week at Hanmer. Judging by what took place the output will be __jrmou_—the wliole being taken by ihe Hon. the Premier, who, it .appears, has indicated hit capability for a___*bing the output of the factory no matter how extensive it may be. Several parties who were present complained that the article produced was of a very inferior and oily character—so much so tliat it was mo* nauseous. Mr Seddon, however, did not _e*m to be ot all inconvenienced by this, and, when speaking, indicated a Wong desire for "more." Others insist- that (knowing Mr Rutherford's love of a joke) he was pulling tlie leg of the boo. gentleman, and are anxious to know wlietber Mr Rutherford's remarks were "spoke sarcaMic."—Youts, etc OILY GAMMON.
