PRESENTATION TO MR SEDDON.
TO-, THE KDITOB OF THE PRESS. Sir,—Under the above beading in your issue of 11th inst. you report Mr Seddon as saying "He did not think that there was I such a difference between the acceptance b y Lord Roberts, Lord Kitchener, etc., of similar presentations, andliw acceptance of the present presentation." I fane- many can acaroely agree with this statement. In the caaea of Lords Roberts and Kitchener, tho grantß wenmad© by both Houses of the Parliament* of Great Britain. Had Mr Seddon, in the same way, been voted a sum of money by both Houses of the New Zealand Parliaments, it might rightly have been called "a national testimonial." But the presentations which have now been made cannot possibly be bo called, for they oi« only the outcome of private subscription. .—Yours, eto., „ C. W. B.
