The Avon Road Board meeting was attended by Messrs Morgan (chairman), Due- I kip. Clelur.d. Pariah arid Waiters. 'i ■'■-' chairman moved---" That the Board desires to record its ke-_i sense of the great loss sustained by the colony, especially the Canterbury "district, through the death of tho Hon.* William Rolleston, who. for ft-veral Years, faithfully represented the Avon district in the House of Representatives, and tenders it« sincere sympathy with Mrs Rolle_ton and family." The motion was seconded by Mr* Parish and canied, all the members standing. James Barr was appointed stock ranger. It was decided to form a footpath on the north side of May's road, provided £12 was received from* those interested. Tho Board decided that it could not *cc its way to accede to th" request of the Woolston Borough Council for a contribution towards the maintenance of the Ferry road, but would be represented at a conference of the other local bodies interested in tlie matter, should one t _ called. A deputation of ratepayers from Queen (Street. Windsor, waited" on the Board, stating that those interested would form the street and footpaths, if the Board would shingle a track up tho centre. It w;us resolved to provide the shingle, the road to be formed to the satisfaction of the Board's surveyor, and King and Queen streets to be dedicated to the Board free of cost. The balance at the bank was atated to be £995 Is lld.
