NATIONAL CONCERT

The Canterbury Hall was crowded last night to the fullest extent on the occasion of the national concert in aid of the Home for the afflicted and distressed of all creeds and nationalities. The programme was an excellent one. and the audience were moat enthusiastic in the matter of encores-. Mrs Bums, who was in good voice, sang "Killurney" and "Maytime." having to respond to redemands for each. MSs Maud Graham delighted those present by her singing of " The Dear Little Shamrock," and Misa Daisy SaniueLs was en-thusirt-ticully encored for her singing of "Come Back to Erin," responding to an encore with " Erin, my Country." Mr Leo. Buckeri'lg.'. hue "baritone voice was heard to advantage in "Kathleen Mavourneen." and Mr W. A. Day sang " Beloved it is Morn" acceptably. Mr Charles Read sang " Alannah * very well indeed, and in response to a l .demand gave " The Cruiskeen Lawn." Mr Maeiinmaru sang "Off to Philadelphia," and Mr Winter Hall gave ;v recitation well. In the second part Miss Mona Fra.ser danced, Mr Dykes sang a very humorous song, and Messrs Jenyns and" GihnOrc gave a, double jig with true national fervour. A farce in dumb show by Messrs Winter Hall, J. Wood Jones, J. Dykes," H. J. Huywurd, A. J. Barnard and "Cha.s. Hobbs concluded a very successful concert. Misa Katie Young accompanied with success. During the evening the Very Rev. 'Father Le _ lenont De Chesnais, V.G., thanked those present for their liberal support of the object for which the concert had been projected.
