THE AUSTRALIAN SQUADRON.

At the City Council Chambers yesterday a meeting of ladies was held, in connection with vie entertainment of the Australasian Squadron. Mr W. Recce opened the meeting, and apologised for the absence of the Mayor (Mr Henry F. Wigram), who whs in the country, and could not return to town in time to be present. Mrs Wigram was voted to the chair. The Hon. C. .bouieson, representing the Hall Committee, was present, and explained what was desired of the ladies with respect, to the decorating of the hall. The following were appointed the Decorating Committee:—Mesdames Stead, Stringer, Louisson, Appleby, R. D. Thomas, Secretan, Hancock, Marsh, Pratt, OwenCox, Wachsmann, Walter Moore, Wavmouth, Denniston, Archer, P. Campbell, and Misses Merton and Graham. The Lyttelton Borough Council last night requested the Mayor to welcome Admiral Fanshawe on its behalf. By notification elsewhere, the public are requested to leave gifts of fruit for tho seamen of the Squadron at the City Council Offices on Monday next.
