LEESTON GRAIN MARKET.
Our Leeston correspondent -writes: — Grain continues to be offered in fairly large quantities. The exceptionally fine weather has enabled! a large quantity of grain to be threshed, while the condition has greatly improved. A line of about 1000 wicks of pearl was sold at 4s l£d, on tracks, at Southbridge, for immediate delivery, a line of Hunter's at 4s at Leeston. and a line of Hunter's and Tuscan, consisting of 2000 Backs, was sold at 4s. The oars market is quiet, although there has been several enquiries for immediate shipment daring the last few days. Milling and short feed oats are enquired "for, and several sales have been made at Iβ 8d for former, and Is 7d to Is 7Jd for the latter.
The National Mortgage and Agency Company, in conjunction with. Messrs H- Matson and Co., on Saturday offered propertiee in Woodman's Estate. Lots 1 and 2 failed to realise what tho renders considered the value, and were withdrawn. Lot 3 was bought by Mr Hislop for £235- The National Mortgage and Agency Company submitted at the name time two sections in Armagh .street, the property of Mr Ed. J. Knapman. Competition was animated. Lot 2, containing 20J perchtß, was started at £500, and went, up to £675, at which price it fell to the bid of Mr Harry Macarthy. Lot 1 started at £500, and went up to £825, but was withdraw at the owner's bid of £900.
