TUNNELLING THE SEINE.
At an important and. influential meeting at Eouen recently, the scheme of M. Berber, enffineer, for tihe construction of a tunnel under the mouth of the Seme in connection with tho railway line from Havre to Pont Audemer was unanimous.y approved. The tunnel, which is a double one, with up and down lines, will be about 3000 yards long, and is expected to cost about a million and a quarter pounds sterling. The subterranean ■ railway will
run at a depth of 17ft b?low the bed of the feeine, and will be venti.ated twice a day i»y a special process. Ite construction & expected to take three years.
