SCHOOL COMMITTEE'S ASSOCIATION.
The members of the School Committees'. Association held a meeting last sight, Mr Jones, President, being in the dsiair. The Rongiora delegatea wrote*, withdrawing from , the . Association, on " the •ground that' the meetings were held at inconvenient times. TWwas decided to reply to the Rangjiora delegates asking them to reconsider their decision, and informing them that the Association would endeavour to arrange dates suitable for them. Mr J. R. Wilkinson eacplained the details of his Technical Education scheme. Mr Franklin "moved-—"That this Association heartily recommends Mr WHaiaveon's scheme, as placed before tin IPSSting, to the Technical Education Boaid.*' The motion was seconded by Mr I* Jf. Botter, and carried nnanimoualy. The action of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College with ? reference to the proposed Government subsidy fo* free secondary education, was discussed, and It was decided—"That the Board of Qovwrnors be- urged to accept the proposahr 0* the Gbvernment concerning the estabUshment of a system of free secondary •dunevtion, the Association being of opinion that the present endowments of the Board axe sufficient, with the Government subsidy, to meet all necessary expenses in connection with the sobeme."
