TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION.

» The annual general meeting of the Canterbury Typographical Union was held in the Trades Hall on Saturday evening. The annual report and balance-sheet showed that the Union was in a most satisfactory condition, both numerically and' financially, the funds and membership having been largely oncreased during* the year. The (report also referr-c- to the good feeling existing between employers and the Union. Touching reference was made to the deaths of two members, Messrs W. Pearce and D. J. Robinson. The report also congratulated Mr T. H. Davey, a late member and officer of the Union, on hie election to Parliament. The printing tirade throughout the province was stated 1 to be in a good condition, members of the Union having been kept well employed throughout ihe year. The Union decided to support the> proposal of the Trades and Labour Council for the appointment, of a labour organiser for the colony. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr W. G. Ludhrook; vice-president, Mr W. T. MoKay; treasurer, Air F. Gourley (re-elect-ed) ; seoretaryj Mr H. B. Bower (re-elect-ed) ; trustees, Messrs A. T. W. Bradwell and E. Harris {re-elected); Trades and Labour Council delegates, Messrs A. E. Wilson and' W. F. Cooper; auditors, Messrs J. Wheatley and F. C. Gerard (re-elected); Board of Management, Messrs Loney, Bullivant, J. Wilson, Bobbie, and W. A. Powell.
