SILENCE IN THE LONDON STREETS.
It is rather curious to observe how sometimes even in the busiest thoroughfares in London" for a very short space of time all the familiar sounds of traffic become suspended. In Horborn, on a recent afternoon, says a Lcndon paper, for at least one minute not a single vehicle of any sort passed Chancery lane, and there was" a moment of silence over one of the busiest parts of 'London. A police constable who has been on duty in various parts of the Metropolis states that he has noticed these fleeting moments of silence in different parts of the City, when the traffic seems for a moment to have died away. The chances, however, against such an occurrence must be enormous.
