the applications duly signed and witnessed, | was covered by the" Wakanui election petition reported in the New Zealand law reports, n was held in that case that it was the duty of the registrar to make tin? roll as- complete as possible. He could put names on the roll without receiving applications, and even on informal application , !. The, Magistrate replied thai that was so, and remarked that it reminded! him of this* absurdity: It was the duty of the registrar under the Act to strike off the roll the name of <those who did not vote, and at the next moment, if he knew those persons should be on the roll, it was his duty to put them on the roll again.
