CASUALTIES.
An inquest was held yesterday, before Mr 11. \Y. Bishop, Coroner, concerning tho death of Doris Lilian Hobbs, the live year oid daughter of Mr A. Ji. Hobbs, of j (.jtorgi- .street, St. Albania. The evidence showed that on Sunday last Mrs Hobbs vas preparing a bath for the youngest child, and left the hot water standing for a moment in ons room, vhiie she went into another to fetch the inf.iait. While she was gone the child Doris reached her hand into the bath, to feel how hot the water was, and, overbalancing herself, fell in. She was badly scalded, and died as the result of shock on Wednesday. The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death. ,, A woman named Mrs Bums died suddenly at her son's residence, Havelockstreet, Ashburton, yesterday afternoon. She fell down, and died in a few minutes. Mr F. F. Clayton, tailor, of Af?hburton, fell down in a fit yesterday afternoon. At the time he was "carrying a bottle of water, and cut himself severely.
