Mearns and Jameson trundled well for the winners, as did Deans acd Ridley for the lesers. A mixed team of players taking part in the Saturday competitions and a Thursday lilcven met* at Hagley Park cm Tuesday, whsn the former won easily by 103 runs and one wiclcet. Scores: —Thursday Players, 67 (Hubden 30, Simpson 16, and Turner 10>; Saturday Players, 170 for nine wickets (Wyatt 48 retired, Bromley 44 retiied, Strar-ge 33, WhiUa 19 not out, Mitchell 17 not out, and O'Brien 15). Bromley and Dillon were the most successful tiundlera for the winners, and Thomas securrd most wickets for the losers. The annua', maUh between Chrint's College and the Boys' High School was commenced in the ground of the former yesterday, and it will be brought to a conclusion on Wednesday next. Scores: — College, 259 (Harper* 102, Bishop 71 not out, Ov*rton 23, Fryer 13, and Lindsay 12); High School, 46 for six wickets (Deans V not out, and Mason 13). For the School Mason took six wickets for 68 runs, and for the College Stringer captured four wickets and Lindsay two. Despite tho disagreeable nor'-wester blowing, an enjoyable match was playea at 'Hagley Park yesterday foetnveen teams representing Mr J. C. Williamson's Operatic Cumjusuy and "The Press" and " Times" combined, the game' ending in a draw. Mr Hall, the captain of the Thespians, won the toss, and tbo wicket being a goo* one, 'he had no hesitation in sending his opponents into the field. The bowling of the Fourth Estate did not prove very formidable, and the last of the visiters tvM not •disposed of until the total bad 164. Rice exhibited good defence in making his 59, while Hughes hit freely for 30, and Hall contribute- 19 before he had- (the misfortune to b» bowled off his pads, ajnd Lissent an_ Dudley with 1! and 10, also made double figures. Atkinson took fivs wickets for'so runs, and Atncik three for 25. The ," Times" and " Press " team wc_t to the wickets at about 4.30 p.m., and at the call of time they had made 117 for fhe loss of four wicketc (Wheat-ley 36, Hamber 27 not out, Fanning 20, Barge 15 not out, and Atack 11). Hall bowled best for the visitors. The New Zealand Cricket Council received a cable message yesterday stating? Lord HawkVs cricket team arrived at San Francisco yesterday. The team is expected to reach Auckland on December 16th.
