THE CAMPAIGN IN THE SOUTH
(SPECtAL TO "TlfE PRESS.")
DUNEDIN, October 25.
Messrs Arnold and Barclay both recognise that tbr-y have a formidable, opponent, in Mr Bedford, whoso chances of success are improving every day. Without doubt he is the •■draw." for whenever he speaks there are dozens of peopkj unable to obtain admission. Mr *»lillar. too. is strongly supported, and it is friven out on the best authority that he will bs included in the Ministry- before many months are out.
As for the country contest*. Mr E. C .Mien (Chalmers). Mr J. Allen (Bruce), Mr McNab :Ma:.aura.t. Mr Frnser (Wakittipu), and Mr .Mackenzie (Waikonaiti) are all regarded as crrtnin to be returned. Mes.sr.s Sidey and Earnshaw are fighting hard in Cavereliam, but now that it i* a straightout issue between the two, Mr Sidey seems to have the best chance. The Taieri seal will probably lie between Mr Ramsay (Go-v.-nmeiit) and Mr Reid (Opposition).
