', SUMNER. ! The Sumner Borough Council met last ; evening. Present—The Mayor (Mr W. • Rollitt) in the chair, and Crs. Bradbury, i Hughes, Pratt, Drew, Hlingsworth, Senior, ; Rowell, and Maffey. It was decided to gTant Mr James Carter, of Redcliffs, the use i of St. Leonard's square for the next twelve 1 months to keep bis donkeys in, for the • sum of £3 5s per year. The trustees of Mr \ A. J. White wrote that they intended mak- • ing a road to open up for sale more of the j hill property owned by them, but did not ' think that roads 66 feet in width were neces- ', snry on hilly country. They asked whether ■ the Council would obtain the necessary f powers to grant them permission to make l the roadways 40 feet wide. The matter , was referred to the Works Committee, with ii-itructions to See where the road is to run, and report on the matter later. Ac- ; counts were passed for payment to the : amount of £156 14s 4d. The only orote-jt > made was against the charge for £10 in con--1 nection with the fireworks display at Sum- | ncr on Coronation Day. A* motion was 1 passed that the account" be reduced by £1, j as a protest that the display was not satis--1 factory. The financial report, which was adopted, showed receipts since last meeting amounting to £98 3s 11__.
