PRESENTS FOR THE KING
A wonderful aftermath of the Coronation ceremony wiil be the Royal presents and caskets which are pouring into Buckingham Palace from all parts of the globe. Only recently a single steamer brought half a dozen caskets containing addresses from Ceylon alone. One of the most original of the Indian caskets i_ that sent by the Maharajah of Benares. Everything used on it is of purely Indian make. The address has been written in Sanscrit on Indian paper such as is used in preparation "of Sanscrit manuscripts, with native ink and iUuminated by one of the Raj painters with Indian colours «d design. The casket _ made of white ivory obtained from his Highness's own elephants, and made by an artist born and bred in his domains. It shows on the panels the British and Benares eoats-of-arms, and the principal ghat of Benares in relief, the whole being remounted by a model in gold of the famous golden temple of Viahwaaath, the presiding deity of the "Sacred cwr_*--■.■■■;-■ ; '..'_■____
