Hill opened vigorously, and knocked up 15, including two fourers before he was bowled by Saunders, his partner meantime not>havptg -cored. 15—1—15. Llewellyn contributed a couple, and then gave Hopkins an easy catch at mid-on. 68—4—2. Barton, facing Noble, was bowled first boll. 70—5—0. Carter bagged Johnston by a mice catch behind the wicket. 78—6—5, •Sprott, who went in third man was making the most of his much interrupted opportunities, and had gradually increased his scare to 25. Bodington's experience was similar to Barton's, Noble scattering his bails with his. first ball. 78—7—0. Sprott added 6 ta his score, and then Carter, the wicket-keeper, smartly snapped him up. He played good cricklt, and was neventy minutes at the wickets. 93—8—33. Robson, who was badly missed by Duff in the long-field when at 3, carried his score to 17, at which stage Trumble found his wicket. 125—8—17. The innings was closed by Soar skying Trumble into Darling's hands at mid-off. Trumper and Duff commenced the Australians' innings. The latter, off a kicking ball, gave an easy catch to Sprott in the Blips. 21—1—13. Hill scored 9 when he was caught off his glove in the slips by Webb. 46—2—9. Two runs later Trumper wa« taught by a substitute at point. 48— 3—lß. Darling and Gregory, were then together, but the latter was caught by Hill after adding 9. 6_-4—9. Noble next partnered his skipper, and a new complexion was placed upon the gams. Darling hit up 80 in fifty-five minutes—a most brilliant performance, Inctade_ in his hits were three sum.
