On the suggestion of 'Mr T_u__r, an amendment was made in Section 2, limiting the area of the tramways district by catting out certain portions of the outlying districts thai _r_ unlrkely to benefit to any extent by the tramway system. Clause 4 was amsaded so as to raise the member-hip of the Tramway Board from six to eight, and tbe representation is to be as follows:—City of Ghristchurch and boroughs of -v-3n___. and -t. Atbans, four members; Linwood, one member; Woolston. Sumner, and the portion of Heathcote included in the tramways district, one member; New Brighton and part of the Avon, one member; I_oc_rton, one member. Tbe amend__arte forwarded from tbe -City Corporation to Mr Collins were included in the Bilk Tbe .dteT—taoz. in the boundaries of the tramways district, as proposed by Mr Tanner and inserted in the Bill in Ctt____ttee, make the district almost identical with the ChrisU__rch drainage district, though even somewhat more circumscribed. Tha am-andment made shuts out two-thirds of Avon and three-fourths or more of the Riocarton distric;. Tae new district i_elud__ but a smaLl portion of the Halswell cb*. trict. and excludes the whole of Hea_hcote which is served by the railway. The. actual boundaries of tbe <__rtriot now are as follows:—That, portion of the Avon road district lying to the «-u___ ot a Undrawn from the North road, at the junction of Winter's road. Eastward ._o_g> Winter's road to HaU'g road; thence southward along HilVa roadi to the sou_v—_rtern point of rural section 1052; „_.__» eastward along the southern boundaries of rural sections 1062, 1139, 7671, 1131. and 1055. to its south-eastern point; thence northward along the eastern rxmndary of rural section 1055 to tbe north-westerr. point of rural section 1818; thauoe eastward along its northern bormdarr fo Bottle Lake road; thence northward along Bottle Lake road to its intersection with Cesneterv road : and thence efistward by the southern ooar__a.r>e-i of rural sections 26467, 51788. 5674, and 6626, direct to the sea; also that portion ot the Riccarton Toad, district lying to the eastward of a line starting from the .vorth road along .tforthcote road westward to the railway; thence southward along t've railway line to Sawyers' Arms road, along the said road to the T?e___lto_ a__ Sawyers' Arms Junction road, along the said road to the Wairarapa road, along the Wairars.pa road to the railway Hue; along the railway line southward to the southeastern earner of rural section 145, and thence in a westerly direction along tho road abutting on the southern booudarier. of rural sections 145, 155, 153 a, 153, 78, 95, awl _>, to the Lincoln and Ricc_rton Junction road; a!so such portions <*f the Halswell road district and the Heathcote road district as are mcluded by a line drawn from the Lincoln road along the Lincoln and Riccarton Junction road to mid-Lincoln road; thence along the midLincoln road to Eaglesome's road, Dunbar's road, and Milner*s road, to Sutherland's _ road. Thence southward along Sutherland's road to the plantation and road reserve. Thence north-eastward along the fatter to the Heathcote river. Thence along the western boundary of rural section 814 and south -western boundary of rural section 549, and soothe—a boundaries of rural sections 2046, 1713. 241, 82, 2135, 15155, 15170, 12280. 23655, 24033, 15553, 13922, and 12715. Thenoe north-westward along the Opawa road to its junction with Hills road, and along Hills road to its junction with the Lytbelton aod Christchurch railway line. Thenoe along that railway to the south-eastern part of the borough of Linwood.
