NOTES.

The ceremony of turning on the water into the new Coronation memorial fountain at Sydenham will take placo on Sa*u_da.y, at 9.30 a.m. The fountain is situate at the corner of Colombo rood and Brongh&n. street. A Coronation oak will be planted at the same time in the Sydenham Park.

It has been arranged that a collection shall be made in the Park on Saturday afternoon in aid of the Veterans' Home.

The foundation of the Lyttelton Coronation permanent memorial is to be laid at 2 p.m. to-morrow. The children taking part in the procession on Saturday will be dismissed near the drillshed for the purpose of taking part in the planting of coco-memoi-tion trees there. In the afternoon they will indulge in racing and other sports on the old Recreation Ground, and there will be a distribution of lollies and fruit. Yesterday Mr J. Grubb, tbe Mayor, received a telegram from tha Acting-Premier stating that in-tructions had been given th_t Saturday should be a wfiole holiday at Lyttelton.

At a special meeting of the St. Albans Borough Council last night, it was decided to lay the foundation stone of the new Fire Brigade Station at St. Aibane at 9.30 to-morrow. It is also suggested to light bonfires on the hills suri roundmg the town at night, and thai the Boating Club and other craft form a torchlight procession. The A. and P. Association's display, to take part in the Coronation procession on Saturday, is being got re;;dy. It will consist of two lorries, with a farmhouse built on them, and with live sheeD and other signs typical of agriculture. The children's entertainment in connection with toe Coronation celebration will take place to-day at 2 p.m., at the Canj terbury Hall. All the arrangements are I ccmp.et*. A-h* unveiling by the Mayor of Sumner of the memorial lamp, erected by the people of the borough in commemoration of the Loronation, takes place at 3 p m today. There are two marble tablets on the sides cf the lamp, one which bears an inscription commemorating the Coronation and the other in memoir of Sergeant Rule and Trooper Wiggins, who fell _„ South Africa. On the third side of the lamp will be a drinking fountain.
