DEBATE IS NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. .
United Preea Ajwocixtjon—B 7 Electric T-l^graph-r-Copyrigbt. , (Received August 7th, 9.18 •._».) STDWEY, August 7. The Legislative Council again blocked tbe Women* Fraochi-e Bill. The HanMr Suitor, in moving the second reading, said it was now the law of the Cb__monwealth, and it would be incon__rt_ctt and ridiculous if the franchise did not exist in this State. Mr Pilcher made a strong amti-franchise speech, and said the majority of women opposed the idea. If women had sufficient intelligence to elect members to Paiiianwnt, they should go the whole hog and sit in Parliament. He moved an amendment for omitting the words providing for a second reading, and tnibstituting irord- in favour of taking a wforendom of the women of the (State, before the Bill is dealt with. The amendment waa carried by 17 votes to 14. Mr Suttor imm-di-tely adjourned the Council. '
