ANOTHER RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

TRAIN DERAILED AT SHAG POINT. (SrECJAI, TO "THE PRKSS.") DUNEDIN, July 31. Another mysterious derailment has occurred on the railway. Yesterday evening seven trucks of a traiu left the line between Shag Point and Bushey. They were empty, and. so far as can be ascertained, no serious damage was dene. There was one carriage attached, containing two passengers. Beyond a shaking, ta-ev were uninjured. Tnis is the second* derailment within a few days. Further particulars of the derailment show that as the mixed train from Maheno to Paimerston. timer. t» arrive at 7.32 p.m., was reaching Shag Point station, one of the trucks left the ime. this being said to be dira to the breaking of one cf the coupling chains. IJy the time the tram was pulled un nraily a mile further on eight h_gl_-.NH?2 wagigons. a passenger cur (which contained two passengers), and a six-wheeled brake-van. had also left tha rails, and another car was partially derailed- The guard was able to cut' off the derailed cars, and go on with the remainder of twenty-five trucks that kept; on the line. Most of the tracks were empty. Nobody was hurt, and no materia! damage was done to the rolling-stock or permanent way. Messrs Coom and Beattie were holding an enquiry into last week's accident when the news arrived- Tbey went promptly to the spot, and tire derailed cars were got back on to tlie line without any difficulty. (PBISS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM) DUNEDIN. July 3a Messrs Coom ana Beattie have held an enquiry, and found that the accident was due to the crosspin of the buffer of one of the waggons breaking. The loose buffer levered one of fbe waggons off the line and this caused the others to follow. No damage worth speaking of was caused. Tbe same gentlemen have found that f_e slight accident on the Port line on Saturday was caused by a broken wa_rgon spring.
