T>URSUANT to the provisions of the Stand- -*- ing Orders of the House of Representatives relating to local Bills, the Christchurch City Council hereby gives notice that application will be made to the General Assembly of N««w Zealand in Tparliarnent assembled at tho Session now being held, and after the date of this notice, for leave to introduce a Bill to be called "The Christchurch City Council Empowering Act, 1902." The object of the said proposed Bill is to empower the Christchurch City Council to give effect to the recommendations of a Special Committee appointed by the said Council to enquire into and report noon claims made by Francis Thomas Haskins and Henry Murray respectively upon the Council for payment to them of certain sums of money by way of retiring allowance, and fo pay out of the district fund of the said Council and City to the said Francis Thomas Haskins the sum of £500. and to pay to the said Henry Murray the sum of £350. A copy of the said vronosed Bill is deposited in the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court at Christchurch, at which place the same ia open for public inspection during office hours.
