SI T DDEN DEATH AT LINWOOD. A man nanjed John Burnett, an old az» pensioner, ditd suddenly at his borne in Gordon street, Linwood. yesterday afternoon. V\w deceased, who \ras a widower, and sixty-seven years of age, lived with his daughter. Mrs Jane Ellen Tatt-on. A little while ago he went to Glentinursl for a few days, and contracted inflammation of thtlunj>s, but he bad since recovered. Two years ago he suffered from a paralytic stroke. Yesterday afternoon Mrs Patron left her father sitting by the fire while she went into town, and returned at halfpast three, to find him quite dead, ia his chair. Constable* Rowel! ami Levin took th* body to the morgue, where an inquest will probably be held. A tyro year old child belonging to Mr Blackley, Waimate, was kicked on the forehead by a horse yesterday, and was dangerously injured. A young man named William Kirk, who was -working with *Mr G. Pearson's machine sawing -wood, a* Southbrook. met with a serious accident yesterday. He was feeding toe machine, -when a piece of -wood flew back into his lace, injuring his right eye so badly that Dr. Volckman had to remove it.
