RETURNING TROOPS.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 22nd, 10 p.m.) LONDON, July 22. Ten thousand troops sailed from bouth Africa for Great Britain last week. Lieutenants R. Dumaresq and J. Hamer, of the New Zealand Mounted Rides, have sailed for England. DEATH OF A NEW ZEALANDER. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 22. The Acting-Premier received the following cable message from Colonel Davies, dated Albany, Monday: —"Britannic arrived here yesterday, with forty-two officers of die Eighth Contingent, two officets and eighty-three other ranks of Tenth Contingent. I regret to report that No. 5493. Corporal T. L. Delabrosse, died on the 17th of pneumonia. No. 5815, Private Mehary, is seriously ill. Four others are progressing favourably." (FROM A CORRESPONDENT.) WELLINGTON, July 22. The Defence Department is arranging for the transport Britannic to call at Auckland and Wellington, the Orient at Port Chalmers and Wellington, and the Montrose at Lyttelton and Wellington. The War Office informs the ActingPremier, Minister for Defence, that all officers and men who landed in South Africa prior to May 31st, 1902, will receive medals and gratuities.
