CHURCH OF ENGLAND TEMPERANCE SOCIETY.
ST. MATTHEWS, ST. ALBANS. ANNIVERSARY" GATHERING. The above Society was formed on October 7th, 1884. The basis of the Society is union and co-operation on perfectly equal terms between those who use and those who abstain from alcoholic drinks in- endeavouring to promote its objects. The objects of the Society are—(l) The promotion of temperance; (2) the reformation of the intemperate ; (3) the removal of the causes which lead to intemperance. The President is the vicar of the parish, the hon. sec. Mr itoos. Gordon. All should come to the anniversary tea on Thursday, fo-morrow, advertised in this paper on front page.
