INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITALS.
(SPECIAL TO, "THB F_UB_3."} DUNEDIN, May 24. * Tbe Mayor's scheme of utilising a hulk fox an infectious diseases hospital is condemned by the authorities in 'Wellington as affording nio permanent arrangement. Another suitable site is being diligently sought for.
A movement ia on foot to establish a hospital for infectious diseases at Gore. In tbe meantime Dr. Ogston is seeing that all possible precautions against the plague are being observed locally, and so far, beyond an idle rumour, there is no suspicion of its presence in Dunedin. NELSON, May 24. The Chief .Hetlth Officer met. the local bodies in conference yesterday. The meeting affirmed the urgent necessity of immediately erecting a hospital for infectious diseases.
The tate of rats destroyed at the Lyttelton pumping station during the last three months has reached a total of 550, little more than double the .number reported as having been killed on the site of a Christchurch hotel now being re-built.
