PA___l____TON NORTH, Ma-v 20 At a meeting of the local branch of the Acclimatisation Society, it was decided to recommend that the Acc___at___tion Society should introduce in future aquatic game or birds that roost, in preference to game making a home on the ground, on account of the continuous and increasing depredation of ferrets and weasels. It is stated that Califorgian game is rapidly increasing throughout the district, while the Mongolian pheasant is making no headway. It was decided to apply to the Society for more hinds, and oppossums, to b. liberated at Kahtrterawa. Strong comments have been made at the failure of the Society to appoint a ranger, the omission to do ao leading to wholesale poaching throughout the year. A attempt will be mode by the brancn to induce the owners of suitable propertie. m the district to consetot to the holdings being declared p**otected reserve- for ____-_- ing purpose*
