TXTHERBAS by Section one hundred and »V fourteen of Tho Public Works Act, . 1691 (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it ia, inter alia, enacted that, the Governor may, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hcreaftar bo constructed, over or across any river or arm of tho sea shall, from and after a date to bo fixed by such Proclamation, be ' under the exclusive care, control, fend manage- > ment of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation; asd may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid, fix. and determine whether all or , any, and, if ao, what part, of tho cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be ; incurred, of maintaining,' repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge, is to be provided and paid by any local authority or authorities, and, if so, by what local'authority or authorities; and may by any such Proclama- 1 tiou n3 aforesaid direct now, and when, and to -whom any such payment is to be made: ' And whereas it is expedient to make provision, under the said Act for the purposes and > in tho manner hereinafter set forth: Now, therefore,'l Uchter John Mark, Earl of Rahfurly, tho Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in mc by tho said Act, and of all other powersand authori- - ties in anywise enabling mo in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and direct that the bridge I. known as.the Hororata .Bridge, described in the Schedule hereto,, shall, from and after the date of .this; Proclamation," be .xinder the. exclusive care, control, and management of the Rakaia Road Board; and in .further'.pursu--3 ance of the aforesaid powers and authorities .
