It ia believed that the brakes of the colliding electric car, in the collision at Newtown, failed to act. Fortunately the first car had the brakes off, otherwise the impact would have been serious. ROUGH 'WEATHER IN NORFOLK ISLAND. NORFOLK ISLAND, May 19. Very boisterous weather, wilh heaw seas, has been experienced the last few days. TAILOEESSES' UNION CLADL (Received May 20:h, 12.55 a»m.) SYDNEY, May 19. The Tailoresses' Union has fiTed a claim in tbe Arbitration Court based on the award made by the New Zealand Arbitration Court.
