(special to "the press.") WELLINGTON, April S. The Wellington banquet to the- Premie* is already an assured success. There are mare applicants than seata. According to the "Taranaki Herald," two new members are to be called to the (Legislative Council. . The Rev. Mr Fitchett, M.A., eon o! Dean Fitchett, of Dunedin, is coming to Wellington to act, pro tern., as incumbent of Sta Thomas's Cburck Counsel in a case in the Supreme Court this morning mentioned that the case had originally been adjourned because there was some objection by the other aide to the action being heard by the local Judges. Mr Justice Denniston promptly remarked that ihe hoped never to. tear a statement in Court that any client or any solicitor objected to a particular Judge trying any case. The matter was being further explained by- both otmnsel, "vybien bis Honour said it, was a new thing to him that any solicitor had the right to object to any Judge. . He was sorry that a statement of the kind should have been made, and he would not sit in Court to hear it. After this there was no further reference to the matter. The Hon. Mr Carroll has offended the Gisborne Liberal Association in consequence of his neglecting to attend a meeting to which he was invited. It is stated that Mr Carroll will have strong opposition at the next election. ■ ; •
