SENIOR CUP MATCHES.
LANCASTER PARK v SYDENHAM. , This match ;was. commenced at Lancaster Park. The -wicket roas good, "though being on the slow side, it gave the bowlers plenty of scope. The suburban team batted first, but made a bad start, losing two wickets before a run was scored. Reese then stopped the rot with a steady inaiags, but, generally speaking, the batting was weak, and the wuokete fell pretty regularly.' With one man absent the venture closed for 95. Fowke was top scorer with a carefullyplayed 29, whflst Reese's 26 was got by sound and oarefdl play. Howell trundled excellently, and came out' with tie fine average of seven for 34. The fielding woe first-class, and for once no mistakes were made in the catching department. The Lancastrians on going to bat soon lost two wdriketa, but Wilding and Orchard then made a good stand, quickly carrying the score 4o 108. The left-hander was then caught in the deep field for a hard hot 59. H. C. Ridley was next, and the total was 154 before Wilding was bowled, after playing careful and attractive cricket, marred, however, by two or three ohancee. Ridley ldflt almost directly after for a nicely-played 30, and Ihie brother followed him. Barrett played more oarefaMy tihan usual for 19, and then Saxton and BoxshaU played out time. Malone bore tie brunt of the bowling, but was expensive, and Reese captured a couple of wickets at a small cost The fielding was somewhat loose. The following the tie scores:—

The return match between the above clubs was commenced at Hagley P«uk on a firstclass -wicket, and the out-fielding was fast. The United captain won /the tow, and goin first ibis team gave 4lhe Midlanders a rare afternoon's leather hunting. Wigley and OHivier were the first pair oi twtemen, and they soon got the measure of the opposing attack, Pearce and Barry, senior, opening the bawling. . Rums came .steadily, from tho start, and the totej was taken to •73 before (Lawrence clean bowled. Ollivier. Sims followed, but at 102 he lost the., partnership of Wigley, who was given out leg before wicket. 'F. S. Franktah, tie next man, was weU caught in the long field after ooittributing four singles, and three of the side were out for 115. Sims was batting in hie best style, and he.found useful partners in Corfe, T -D. Harman, WUeon, and Boddington, each reaching double figures, the fourth wicket falling at 147, the fifitfa at 195, the sixth at 227, and the seventh at 274. E. Frankish, the next man, was bowled at 280, and Sans and Vincent played out time. Sims (played splendid cricket in compiling hie 123, no* out, never giving a chance, and nearly all ihis strokes were along the ground. This is his third cenfeory in Senior Cup cricket this season. AMhoogh there was not much sting in the bowEng it was steady throughout, and, cotfsidering their long outing, the Midlandete fielding was very good. Messrs Gerard and Spencer were the umpires. JUNIOR CUP. The match Albion v Sydenham Rivals was started at Sydenham Park on Saturday. The Rivals in their first innings put up 187 (Walters 21, Lafferty 24 s , Murray 19, Grammar 17, Hampton 11, Fraeer 69 not out, Wilson 15, and Minifie 13). Albion have one wioket down for 25 (Cobden 17 not out, Robson 8). The Midland and Sydenham teams commenced their return match at Hagley Park, when the former went in first ana made 180 (Lawrence 53, White 50, Bromley 24, Mitchell 15 not out, and Whitta 10). McMurray bowled very eteadilv for Sydenham, who had scored 64 for the loss of five wickets at the call of time. Gudsell contributed 22 and Hunsley 12. Whitta trundled best for Midland. The Lancaster Park and United Club* also began a match at Hagley Park, and at the call of time the scores were:—Lancaster Park 125 (Mason 18, Venables 16, Young 15, Hammond 14, Jackman and Flenv ing 12); United, 97 for six wickets (W. Harman 43 and Blunden 13). Williams bowled best for the United, and Mason foi the Park.
