ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The Acclimatisation Society held a meeting yesterday afternoon, when, there yr&te rjent —Messrs J. B. Usher (in ; the ohair), Scott, W. J. Edwards, G. King, A. Oarrick, Q. Hitchie, L. Wilson, WV feard, and Hi-Sloman:
The Chairman said that this was ,& special meeting called in response to a letter signed 1 by several of the members of the Society, complaining of the unsatisfactory condition of tne Gardens and the .trout. , ~ „;,. .. Apologies were received from' Messrs J. Hay don, C. Meredith Kaye, and lE. Stead The Chairman said that the action of the depend on the , facts, over which were was a great deal - of dispute. Hβ suggested, tbat a special committee ebould be appointed to elicit the facts end report- to the' next meeting. ' Mr Carrick considered that it was the duty of the Garden Committee to do this... In reply to Mr' King the Chairman said that it was the-adminietration of the Gardens that had been complained about. Mr Izard, a member of the Garden Committee, considered that the Garden 'Committee should be strengthened- in this particullar matter by the inclusion ~of other members. * ,-. > . . Mr Carrick moved that the chairman, Mr Ritchie, and Mr Scott,, together -with-the three members of the Garden . Committee — Messrs Izard, Harman, andJ Br. "Moorliouse —be appointed a special committee to draw np . " ,;..•'■-. The Chairmen suggested? that a special oommitfcee, consisting of iMessra Izard, Scott, Staman, Fisher, and Dr. Moorhouae, should be appointed. . -^ It waa finally decided that the committee consist of Messrs Bitchie, Scott/ Sloman, MoHame, and. Fisih«r, -who, ,wit^ ; 'tit* Qearden Committee, should consider the question of "the -working of the society, and -what action could be taken by the society, to imthe same, f an<J afterwards report to the next meeting of thfe Council.
