EARTHQUAKES AT TONGA.
(raSSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND. December 17. Tbe Tongan correepondent of the "H«rald" states:—"We have had plenty of earthquake shocks, and, although nothing to be compared with the seismic distort)ances in Kew Zealand yet two ehoclc* on JS'overober 12th, at 11 a.m. and 2.30 p.m., were vufliciently powerful antf alarming to cau» the natives to rush yelling from tireir houses, which tb*y vrere afraid w«re 'about 'to collapse. Beyond » few articlee of crockery ami glassware, which came to urief in some i>f the stores and ihuropean bouses, no. damage was done. Another very severe shock occuiTed on Tuesday morning laat (December 3rd), at 2 a.m., whicn «TOUsed most of the people."
