WELLIN-KON, November 23. The weather for the seoond day's races was an improvement on that experienced on the first day. A strong northerly wind b;env across the course in the early part of the day, but died away as the afternoon wore on. The attendance was fairly large. Cannie Chie-l's win in the big event, the Pearce Handioaip, was well _ received, aad_ the colt was aocorded an ovation on returning to scale. The win of Goldenmere in the _lutt Park Spring Handicap was also the subject of a popular demonstration. The sum of _11,268 was put through the totalisator for the day, making a total of J821,3—J for the meeting, as compared with £20,029 for last year's Spring Meeting. The detailed results are as follows.**— PETONIE HANDICAP, of 100 soys; second 10 soys from stake. Oue mile. 119. A Paterson's b g Aide-de-Camp, by Hiko—Parlourmaid, aged, 7st lllb (H. Telford) 1 518. H. A. Solomon's Muscovite, 8»t 2lb (L. C. King) 2 99. A. Hope's Regret, 7st 41b (Jackson) 3 166 Fakir 7st also started. Aide-de-Camp jumped off with the lead, and showed the way along the buck and round the ■bend into tihe straight. Muscovite*, who had been lying handy, moved up alongside Aide-de-Camp as the straight was entered, and a groat race hope ensued. Muscovite held a slight advantage passing tho stand, but Aide-de-Camp prevailed in the last few strides, and won by a head, Regret three lengths away third. Time, Imin 44sec. Dividend, £6 16s. From a straggling- start Hokio was tihe first to show out, and ho took the field along/at a good pace, his closest attendant being Puritans. Rounding the far bend Gipsy Jack ran into second place. Hokio was. first into the straight with three or four lengths' lead, and going on full of running, won comfortably by a couple of lengths. Jingle finished half a length Ijehind Ginsy. Jack. Racing along the back the order was Dundas, Fashion, Kahuwai, and Cannis Chiel, with Tortulla and Battleaxe last. At the (four furlong post Fashion was sticking to (Dundas, with The Shannon next. In tihe run home Fashion got in front, and was joined by The Shannon and Cannie Chiel. The latter dashed out fifty yards from the post, and won by three-quarters of a length from The Shannon and .ashion, whom tho judge was unable to separate.
