The sugar question is being debated in the Assembly on the motion for the establishment of a State refinery, and an amendment that the industey should be placed on a sound basis by the continuance of the present Kanaka Labourers .Act for a farther ten years. The Premier, Mr Philp, who raised the ire of the Queensland representatives in the Federal Parliament by writing to the President of the Senate, giving his views on the Federal Kanaka Bill, said it would be a bad day if the States could not approach both Federal Houses by letter. One member staged that the Premier merely gave the views of the Government, which did not represent the views of the members of the State Parliament. THE CONYNOHAM DTVOROE CASE.
