AN EXTRAORDINARY CASE.
i.PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, November 22. A fortnight ago a man named William George Garrard caused a sensation in the Police Court by jumping upon. Dr." Laashr lev, solicitor, and throwing him upon the floor. To-day, before t£e Stipendiary Magistrate, liarrard was charged with threatening behaviour on the ocasion in question. Accused pleaded "Guilty," alleging great provocation. He asked ft the solicitor had a right to call him "a d- — old scoundrel" in Court. The Magistrate asked' accused if the Justices did not send him to gaol at once. G-arrard , replied: "No; they, said, 'When you two gentleman have finished your discussion •W-β will get on with the case.'" The Magistrate expressed regret that he was unable to deal with the affair as contempt of Court, and at this stage he fined the .accused 40s and costs.
