CHRISTCHURCUH REGATTA CLUB.
, A meeting of the C&ristchureh Re^abfe' Club was held last evening in the CUater- , bury Rowing Club's Boathouee. Mr Kesteven explained that pressure of business would prevent him from acting as secre- x tary to the regatta, and suggested tot Mr F. Asquitih would be a capable representative. The resignation of.' 2Jx Kesteven was accepted wkh regret, and Mr Asquitih. • was deoted eecrebary. It was f&'.l that the dhamplonsidp reeatta,. should be heH on some public whole holiday, and tie*' care should be exercised in securing such a representcution- of clubs -as would guarantee financial success. - It was decided to refer <the matter of drawing up the programme to a sub-committee, consisting of, Messrs Cowliiiiartv, Crosbie, and Kesteven, to determin-e partdculars and report to tne nest meeting of the Commirtee. After ■discussing Ithe disgraceful condition of the River Avon, and the means of remedying it, the meeting adjourned for a fortnight.
