EVENING SITTING. REGISTRATION OF CHURCH MEMBERS.
When tint, House resumed at. 7.30 p.m. Mr S. S. Blackburn* moved: "That the Bill to enact regulations for '"securing the better registration ofChureh members and" the more accurate compilation of electoral rolls be read a third time and passed; also that the Bishop be requested to authorise and direct that the notice included in the regulations '.for the better registration of Church members and the more accurate cqnipilation of "electoral rolls shall be read- in every Church or other .place of public worship in,the diocese, on one Sunday in August in each year at morning and evening prayer." The resolutions were carried, and the Bill was read a third time,'CONDOLENCES. The Rev. W. Dunkley moved a resoluwhich was carried, placing on record the Synod's sense of the loss sustained by the Church in the death of James Irving, M.D. .A similar resolution was also carried in respect to th. late Mr G. F: TendalL BURNHAM CHURCH. The President moved to the effect: "That the Synod approves of an offer of the Biirnham Churchy building being made to the Government for its removal to a site on the grounds of the Burnham Industrial School, .to "be approved by the Bishop, on condition that it be used for religious purposes only." 'The resolution" was seconded by Mr W. H. Hargreav_3, and carried. " ,_ - DEAN AND CHAPTER ESTATE. 1 The President also moved:' "That it be an, instruction to the Church Property Trustees •to pay over to the Cathedral Chapter any surplus income of the Dean and Chapter-Estate which may remain at April 30th, 1902, after providing for all the statutory 'payments and for payment of the balance of' the loan of £500, made to tlie Cathedral" Chapter from the capital of the said estate; - such surplus to be applied towards the reduction of the liabilities of the Chapter/ The resolution was carried without discussion. CLErvGY WIDOWS -AND ORPHANS' FUND.. •■' , . The . Rev. H. Williams moved: "That; in view of the great importance of secur-" in? a larger measure of pecuniary support of the Clergy-Widows and Orphans' Fund from the church people of the diocese this Synod regards cordial" approval the recommendation-of the Bishop, in his address to Synod, "that the'offerings at confirmations in; the'-diocese should be devoted in aid of this fund." Mr W. t_. Brittan seconded the motion, which was carried. - - % STANDING COMMITTEE. ' It was resolveli: "That the resolutions on -the 'Mode bf Election of the Standing Committee' be referred to* the. Standing Committee for consideration, and report to the next session of .Synod." VOTES OF THANKS. Before the Synod adjourned tributes of' appreciation - and. votes of thanks' were passed to the lay assistants'and lay readers, the deaconesses,' the Cathedral sidesmen, churchwardens,' vestrymen, and -■ other church officers, the superintendents, and 1 teachers of Sunday Schools,' the clerical and lay secretaries of .the Synod, and the chairman and Clerk of Committees,'' to those city church people who had entertained the visiting clergy, and. to the proprietors and reoorters-of the local daily papers. ; The Synod then adjourned till next year. , .
