AMATEUR THEATRICALS.
To-xdght theatre-goers will he able .to witness the production for the first time *saj New Zealand, of Sydney Grundy's powerful play "A Fool's Paradise," written lor John | Hare, and first produced by him in London. The play is a comedy-drama; the plot, which J is most s_uiully woven, has a serious in- j terest centreing in tho two strong parts j played in the original production by John ; Hare and Oga Xethersole, but the subsidiary i interests ranged round it and the variety in ! the characterisation give the play the bright- j ness and vivacity of pure comedy. ' The play j is not one that gives great scope for scenio I display, but the stage furnishing will be a j very strong feature in the production.. A i gpod orchestra will play the incidental i music, and the cast includes some of the ! most capable of Christchurch amateurs. The ■' booking has' been very satisfactory. j
