VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB.

CAULFIELD CUP DAY. United Press Asaociation—By Electric jTelegraph—Copyright. | (Received October 19th, 6.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 19. After a long stretch of miserable, changeable weather, with frequent cyclonic visitations, making outdoor sport unattractive, except to most inveterate horse followers, the weather has suddenly changed. Fine warm days have now set in, with real summer weather, somewhat uncomfortable to those ac- • oustomed so long to the cold. The Caulfield Cup always draws well, and on this occasion has been no exception to the rule. - From early forenoon the trains were full, and as the afternoon advanced there waa a continuous procession. The road was-also well patronised, and, as the highway was not quite dry, there was comfortable freedom from dust. The Governor-General and Lieut.-Governor ; and suites made a gay appearance. The ( scratching pencil was used largely, and con- ■: Bequently the fields were reduced in numbers, but the only withdrawal from tbe Cup was Rock Gun. The following are the results: — MOORA TBIAL STAKES, of 150 soys; second horse 35 soys, third 15 soys front ■ stake. Special weights, with penalties j and allowances. One mile. j J.
