Srr, —I ehonld liko to use your columns for the purpoea of asking the directors of the abora-mentioned Cooipetoy whether their attention haa been drawn to the fact that recently constructing engineers of dredges have been held reeponrible by the law courts for delay in completion of - their contracts? Consulting engineers have also been held equally responsible for damage arising from want of attention to their duties. If I mistake not our dredge cost more than it would otherwise have done simply because a short-time contract was accepted, but for some reason or other she was not completed until about twice the Specifiedtime had passed. Surely this delay should be paid for by either the consulting engineers or by the people who Imilt the dredge. I understand there are snbstantial same still owing to these firms of engineers, and I trast the directors will not pay then* over until a fair adjustment has been made for delay in building the dredge. I don't think there is any danger of the Company being jraed for the amount*, or that there would be any chance of the claims being upheld in the court if it were sued. Jndging from report*, this unfortunate dredge ia still pursuing her serious search after teilings.
