A claim, Smvthe v Fulton, the first case be/ore the Arbitration Court under the Workers* Compensation for Accidents Act, came before Judge Cooper and the assessors [ to-day. In this case tne father and sister !of William Smvthe, labourer, killed in a I landslip at Nihotapa while working for I Hugh Fulton, contractor for the water I works for the City Council, claimed £400 from Fulton's widow. Counsel announced I that the claim had been settled this morning by payment of £205 to the claimants by the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company, which had Fulton's risk on the contract.
