TENNIS TOURNAMENT.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegn »h—Copyright (Received September 29th, 5.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 29. The tennis tournament between New South Wales and Victorian players resulted in a win for the former by one point, the scores being New: South Wales 32 points, Victoria 31 points.

The opening of the Linwood Lawn Tennis Cub took place on Saturday. The attendance did not seem to be affected by the uncertainty of the weather. Several scratch games were played, and afternoon tea was dispensed by 'Mesdames Dunnage and Ferguson. Tlie club bids fair to have a very successful season. Two tournomente for men's angles are to he commenced at once, while two prases have been presented to the lady payers-, and a combined tournament is also in progress. The club has decided to .tteow.open the courts to ladies on Saturdays during the summer months.

The annual meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association wilt be held this evening.
