Owing to Mr Prouse being called away to Wellington, the concert of Madame Belle Cole, arranged for to-night, hag been postponed till Monday.

A complimentary social wiSl be tendered to Mr G. J. Smith, M.H.R., by his Committee and supporters to-morrow night. Mr Clifford ,Walker is arranging for a recital at the Choral! Hall on Friday evening next, when the programme will be of a ■unique character. Mr Walker will be assisted in the vocal part by Messrs H. 'M. Reeves and Percy Denton, and there will also be a one act play, "Old Cronies," in which Mr Clifford Walker and Mr 0. T. J. Alpers will take part. Mα , G. E. Isaac, Organising Inspector of Manual and Technical Instruction, will give a demonstration lesson to teachers at the Normal School to-morrow at 10.30 a.m. Mr W. Henderson, junr., has been elected as a member of tlhe Halswell Road Board. The hounds of the Christchuroh Hunt Club will meet to-morrow at Yaldhurst at 2.30 p.m. instead of at Templet on. Fuller's Waxworks, which is a combination of Waxworks, Biograph, and Vaudeville Company, open this evening at the Oddfellows' Hall. The Vaudeville Company includes Mies Lena Young (contralto), Miss May Lewie (serio). Miss Alice Maher (vocalist and dancer), Messrs Aubrey Douglas, Mick Planer, Fred.. Xorris, Charles Marsden, etc. There will be a matinee tomorrow afternoon.

The poll in connection with the Farmers' Association, on the proposal ol Mr MieLachlan as opposed to the recomdation of the directors, will take place on Saturday.
