CHRISTCHURCH WORKING MEN'S CLUB.
The twenty-first anniversary of the Christchureh Working Men's Club was celebrated last night by a. Sam Weller Swarry, which was one of the most successful held by tlie club. The chair was occupied by the" president, Mr J. M. Thompson, and in addition to a very large attendance of members, there Avas also a number of A-isitors. The Recreation Hall, in which the gathering was held, has been recently re-decorated, and an insta_tation of incandescent gas lamps put in. This has greatly improved the lighting, and the room looked exceedingly well. The catering wns capitally done by Mr Buggey, and after the usual loyal toasts had been given, the following * were duly honoured: —'The Mayor and City council." responded to by Mr Gray; "The President and Officers," responded to by the Chairman j "Our Boys at the Front," responded to by Troopers Wright and Barry, and Sergt.-Major Berland ; "Success to the Club and it« Founders," responded to by Mr J. J. Anderson; "Kindred Clubs," responded to by the Presidents of the Sydenham and Richmond dubs; "The Ladies." "The Press," "The Caterer and Custodians."
