Some doubt having existed as to whetJber the parcels of comforts purchased by means of "The Press" More Men Fund had, in the case of those intended for the First and Second Contingents reached their destination, we addressed a letter of enquiry to Colonel .Robin on the subject soon after his return to the colony. We have received the following reply, which our readers will, no doubt, regard as satisfactory: — % Mount Cook Defence Office, Wellington, 4th July, 1901. Sir, —I have the honour to reply to your enquiry re presentation box of comforts, including card by Lady Banfurly, and apologise for delay in answer caused by the extra military duties in connection with the Royal visit. The boxes so kindly sent by you came to Africa with the Third Contingent, which Contingent I am informed were issued with one each. ". The boxes for the First and Second Contingents went to Capet-own, from which place nearly all the First, and Second Contingents received a box, either when returning as invalids or on relief. All invalids irrespective of Contingents got them as long as they lasted, and a few were issued at Pretoria—sixty in all. You may rest assured, sir. that tliey were all issued at one time or another to New Zealanders, and were much appreciated by all. and the contents were of the greatest "value to those receiving them. A"ain'on behalf of the Contingents please accept our heartfelt thanks for the kindness. Ij ji ve the honour to be, sir, your obedient servant, \ W. ROBIN, Lieutenant-Colonel, N.Z.M.R,
