THE QUEEN'S FUND.

ANNUAL MEETING. At t'ha annual meeting of the Queen's Fund, held at Mrs Fenwick's on Wednesday, there was a very small attendance. ■Mrs Fcnwick, ihon. treasurer, stated that owing to the absence of two of the trustees she (had! 'been unable to obtain 'tiho money to meet the demands of the applicants, bub she hoped, through the courtesy of Mr G. GSouJdi to be able to do' iso- in the .course of a week or so, though, the sum at the disposal of the Committee was so very small owing to the extremely low rate of interest which was obtained. She feai-ed it would be impossible to mee'th all demands as fully as heretofore.

,At a special public meeting of, snbsoribers, 'held' in 1894, the following'resolution was passed!:—''That the Committee l>e empowered to trench on the capital to an extent not «x:ceed!ing £20 a year-should the interest on the sum invested prove insufficient to meet the demand on it." The meeting, with ono exception, was of opinion that the .money ''collected in honour of her Majesty shouldi be applied to the relief of her late Majesty's contemporaries during tihe life of hor Majesty and , the lives of the subscribers. The resolution was submitted to the trustees, and approved by them. Since then the Committee has kept wel within the limits of the resolution. For t3io last two years, however, the interest iias again re<Juced, and if a better investment cannot be found the fullest advantage must be taken of it, or else, relief be refused to the very deserving and needy cases now under consideration by tihe Committee.
